Jon Thornburgh is an FAA Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) and a periodic contributor to several aviation magazines. He is an ultralight instructor and an ultralight pilot examiner.  He is also an FAA certified Sport Pilot Examiner and Sport Pilot Instructor Examiner for light-sport airplanes and weight-shift control trikes.

Jon is licensed to fly single and multi-engine airplanes, both land and sea, as well as helicopters, gyroplanes, gliders, and hot air balloons. He is certified to teach airplanes land and sea, helicopters, gyroplanes, gliders, weight-shift control trikes, and "instrument" flying in airplanes and helicopters.

Jon has written articles for the Internet news magazine, Aero News Network, as well as ASC's Aero Connections, the EAA Experimenter, Ultralight Flying! and UltraFlight Magazine. Although Jon is licensed to teach in a variety of aircraft, his goal is to make flying fun and affordable to persons of average income and limited spare time to devote to learning how to fly. That's why he specializes in teaching small, easy-to-fly sport planes. He truly believes that the new FAA Sport Pilot initiative can rejuvenate personal aviation and make it possible for almost anyone to experience the joy and thrill of flying.

Jon is very pleased to be a part of Fusion Aviation. He enjoys instructing and examining students and helping them obtain the coveted "Sport Pilot certificate."

Ernst Schubert is an experienced CFI with over 4,900 total flight hours and has 3,300 hours as a CFI. Ernst’s ratings are CFI, CFII, Multi-Engine Instructor with teaching experience in the Beechcraft B58 Baron and Cessna 421.

Many commercial airline pilots from Europe come to Ernst for their check-outs and currency training. Some airlines pilots that fly the Boeing 747 and Airbus A340 schedule Cessna 182 flights with Ernst during their layovers in Los Angeles.

Ernst brings the same diligence and dedication to his flying as he did in earning his P.h.D in Organic Chemistry from Virginia Commonwealth University. This same dedication is why Ernst is a flight instructor with Fusion Aviation.

As a CFI with Fusion Aviation, Ernst offers instruction in the Alarus CH2000 and Cessna 182, specializing in IFR instruction utilizing the Garmin 430.

Ernst’s hourly CFI instruction rate is $40 per hour. Ernst also offers half-hour introductory discovery flights in the Alarus for $49.

As a current Captain for Netjets with over 14,000 hours of flight time, Richard Depinay has a "passion for flying as well as teaching others to fly." Richard has amassed over 6,500 hours as a CFI. "I love the contact with people and having the opportunity to fly with students of various backgrounds and experience." "Most airline pilots like to do something other than flying after work, but I enjoy spending my time instructing."

He proudly states that, "A lot of flight instructors leave for better jobs in the airlines; but you can be assured that won't be the case for me - since I'm already there!!!"

Coming from a long lineage of pilots, Richard Depinay's passion for flying started at the age of 5, when he accompanied his father on flights in France.

Richard also developed a love for soaring, and began competing in glider races.He inspiringly recounts, "At the age of 18, it seemed only natural for me to start flight instructing"

Instructor Depinay's ratings are: ATP, Instrument, Multi-Engine, CFI, CFII, CFI Gliders, MEI and type rated on the SA227Metroliner and Citation Excel.
